Minoxidil Regroe joined the world in celebrating the annual Alopecia Awareness Month with its Blue Party. It aimed at heightening awareness as well as helping understand what alopecia is all about and how to cope with this condition.

This noteworthy event happened last September 21, 2017 at Dillinger’s 1903 Steak & Brew Greenbelt 3 in Makati City, gathered bloggers and media friends to help disseminate further information about alopecia. Guests present on the said affair voluntarily cut their hair as a symbolic gesture of showing support to people with alopecia.




During the event, an alopecia advocate and survivor shared her journey about her experience in having this autoimmune condition and how she surpassed her condition despite the stigma attached to it. “Alopecia should not be ignored as it affects not only one’s outer appearance but also one’s inner being. People do not understand that it is not as simple as shedding of hair to one’s scalp or body but an autoimmune condition that resulted to hair loss,” said Au De Leon.

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease, causing the body’s immune system to attack the hair follicles, resulting in partial or complete hair loss on the scalp and other parts of the body. The most common types of alopecia areata are alopecia areata patchy or coin-like patches on the scalp or other areas of the body, alopecia totalis or total hair loss on the scalp, and alopecia universalis or complete loss of hair on the scalp, face and body.


In the website of National Alopecia Areata Foundation, (www.naaf.org), the foundation presented that 147 million people worldwide are affected by alopecia areata with a lifetime risk of 2.1 percent.

A huge thank you to Mitch Garcia and the rest of Marriott Hotel Marketing Team for having me in the Opening and Blessings of the jewelry store Twin Princess Gems at the West Wing of Manila Marriott Hotel last August 9.

 As we all know Filipinos love jewelry even from the colonial period, it is also listed in the top 10 best gifts that you can give to your love ones and for sure no women will fall to the timeless beauty of any jewelry.


When you think of Jewelry carft, Twin Princess Gems has various type of jewelry from earings to anklets. Necklace with stones, gems and pearl are truly amazing. I was so lucky to witness their Grand Opening. The event was short and the jewelry enthusiast gathered together to see the latest collection of the store. They are hand crafted and of course a proudly Filipino made.


It was said that the Marriott Hotel branch was their second store and i heard that Twin Princess Gems will be giving discounts to all who check-in in Marriott Hotel for the month of August.

Eric Santos was also there and serenade the guest while there is someone who brought a pair of jewelry while the rest is enjoying the cocktails.


There was also a Chocolate Ring giveaways and I love the Pearl Necklace that Chef created. Look at them they are cute and really beautiful but edible. The owners are really nice and got my ring chocolate too bad it was already deformed when I get home because of traffic and heat outside when I left Marriott Hotel.

Have you ever felt something like numbness, muscle weakness, and pins and needles? If so, you are experiencing Neuropathy. Its actually the symptoms of nerve damage and most of us did not mind it and even it was often, most sufferers do not seek medical
advice.
So what exactly is Neuropathy?

 Neuropathy, a disorder affecting nerves, which is experienced by many people in the Philippines. Despite this high frequency, many men and women who have it are not even aware of their condition. In fact, nerve health is not a topic that many people actually think about.

 Sometimes they are often attributed to more mundane causes, such as fatigue or wrong sleeping position. While these symptoms can indeed be linked to such causes, it is undeniable that Neuropathy is a possible cause.

 Other possible symptoms of Neuropathy:

 - Increased sensitivity to touch
- Sharp pains

- A burning feeling
- Reduced sensitivity to pain
- Loss of sensation, and
- Reduced sense of touch.

 There are also a number of conditions in which nerve damage appears or can be a secondary complication. Causes and risk factors are multiple and include causes and conditions such as genetics (a family member suffers from Neuropathy), chronic diseases (like diabetes), environmental toxins (such as smoking), alcoholism, nutritional deficiencies (including B Vitamin deficiency), and even side effects of certain medications. This condition can be
idiopathic (have no known cause).

PMAP (People Management Association of the Philippines) celebrates the National Wellness Day and its been a yearly initiated activity in PMAP lead by its Wellness Community. Over the past years, their main objective is to bring out the employee-health awareness and engagement. PMAP gives its healthy and sharing of best practices with others.


 This year, Wellness Committee united on their theme,  Creating a Culture of Wellness. In the series of their learning session, I have have experienced enriching the mind, body and spirit. The variety of speakers who are expert and equipped on their own topics was fantastic and I have learned a lot that day. From Mindful Yoga, Seed Lifestyle, Glimpse of the 4GS, Functional Medicine and Thyroid Awareness. Although, I have not finish it because I need to go back in the office. The 2nd part of the event was I think an interesting one because they tackle about Bio-energy Stress Therapy and Build a Life that Matters, there is also a panel of discussions. There is also a raffle and Zumba sessions and participant can enjoy. 




Also, I have visited some booths. PMAP event was sponsored by Robinsons Supermarket, Nestle, Nurture Wellness Village and Healthway Medical, while supporters are Christian Life Community of the Philippines, Philippine Daily Inquirer, WOW, Manila Broadcasting Company, DZRJ and LIFE. 

 This one day of full of learning, greatfullness and holistic growth was really unforgettable. Thanks to TOTO for inviting me.
