Angelina Jolie Pitt Had Her Overies and Fallopian Tubes Removed

I am a big fan of this Oscar-winning actress through the years. Last May 2013, I wrote a blog post about her as a woman being undergone in a double mastectomy to prevent breast cancer entitled Angelina Jolie, Double Mastectomy

Her braveness to tell publicly about it is very inspiring. Yesterday, March 24, 2015, She revealed another choice she made to her life that she has written in her column in The New York Times, The Opinion Page. It was entitled Angelina Jolie Pitt: Diary of a Surgery.

She wanted every woman at risk to know about their options. She preferred to have preventive surgery and the removal of her ovaries and fallopian tubes which her plan as it was less complex surgery the mastectomy. However, the effects are more severe because it can put a woman into forced menopause.

She said, she did not do it because she carries the BRCA1 gene mutation and wanted other women to hear it. Instead, there are options.

She also said and I quote:

"I know my children will never have to say, Mom died of ovarian cancer."
- Angelina Jolie Pitt

Last week, probably March 17, she had the procedure called a laparoscopic bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy.

You can read more of her stories here.

In my own humble opinion, every women as choice of what things to do in our personal body. I know for sure that every time we make decisions we always consider our family. We sometimes made decisions not only for our own good but to extend our life to be with our love ones.  Most importantly, do not forget to pray ans ask  the highest above guidance.

Seeking advice and learning the options before making decision is the first thing to do. We can always consult doctors who are more knowledgeable about this field and from there think about the options.

What is Laparoscopic Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy?

This is a surgery where your doctor uses a thin, lighted camera and small
surgical tool placed through a small (1/2 inch) incision usually in the belly
button, to remove both of your ovaries and fallopian tubes.
