I may not have a regular exercise but I always find time to make myself as active as I can. As my routine, I used to have few minutes to walk in the morning going to work and before going home. However, I find it not enough, so I tried to join in different running activities. The last fun run I had was over a month ago.

I was glad to be part of last Sunday's activity wherein the National Milo Marathon organizers, some blogger friends, and Coach Rio Dela Cruz spend a Saturday morning to have a fun run for the launching of the upcoming National Milo Marathon 2019.

I personally enjoyed it. Sweat all over me and the feeling is great after the hardcore warm up and two laps running in the academic oval of UP Diliman.

The MILO Marathon encourages people, especially children from all walks of life, to get into sports and prepare for a larger arena called life.  For this year's theme, they call it “One Team. One Nation. Go Philippines!”

They also like to encourage the entire nation, to rally the Filipino athletes competing in the Philippines’ hosting of the 2019 SEAG. Part of the Philippine contingent is 6 time consecutive NMM Queen, Mary Joy Tabal, who continue to bring pride to our country. She also used to participate in other MILO programs at a younger age where she was able to strengthen her values in pursuing her ambitions such as discipline, confidence, and teamwork.

There are total of 10 regional race schedules starting June 14 to November 17, 2019 and the national finals will be on January 19, 2020 in Tarlac City. Below is the full race schedule of 2019 National Milo Marathon.

So get ready and choose the distance that you like, starting from 3K, 5K, 10k, 21K, and 42K run. Race kit inclusions are follows:

Please take note that if you are running for a half or full marathon which are the 21K and 42K respectively, you will be needing to present and submit a fit-to-run medical certificate for both Manila and Provincial elimination round.

I'm so glad to be part of PMAP Palarong Pinoy, it was my first time and I enjoyed it. The energy of the participants overwhelms me. They are so empowered and I think very competitive.

We are less than 15 members that day but we face them with courage to try and do the things we never thought we can do. Too bad most of us are not prepared for the games, but we did our best to compete.

The first games was called Suot Lusot, the goal is to slip the Hula-hoop from one person to the other without breaking each others hand grip and the team to make the hoop come back to the starting line will win the game.

The second game is the Hula-hoop, a total of six players needed - 3 girls and 3 boys. Players will spin the Hula-hoop one at a time. The player will spin the hoop 60 seconds and the score will determine by the number of spin seconds. I finished the whole 60 seconds and it was fun, it reminds me the street game that I used to play when I was a kid.

The third game was called Funminton, there are 10 players in a group and there are 4 teams to compete each other in 4 courts all at the same time. To win, the team must eliminate other teams one-by-one until they are the last team left. The score is 10 points per player left.

The fourth game was the Kapitang Kulay, its a colored mat game who is spread at the court. Players will reach out for the called-out colors using the body part such as hand, foot, elbow, knee, shoulder, head, etc.

A body part can only be used once. Players un-able to reach the colors announced will be eliminated. There will be 10 calls. Ten players, two rounds. First round 5 females and the second one is 5 males.

Then, an obstacle relay race was next its called Karerang Takbo. Player will pass thru a variety of Pinoy games as obstacles. Path 1 is Piko Step-No, Path 2 is Limbo Rock, Path 3 is Walis Bilis. The race is timed and players run from the starting line and go thru each hurdle. Then from the turn-around points, players go back to the starting line before the next runner's turn. 20 runners per team will play the game.

Lastly, the Patinbola, 20 players per team, 12 offense / 8 defence and 2 minutes per set. Its actually a Patintero game with a twist because attack team carries a ball to and from the base and try to make Touch-Down Scores. The players may pass the ball to co-player team. However, if caught by Defence Team, both player and the bal is out. Attack Team may also make home-runs even without a ball.  Scoring will be 10 points for regular home-run by Attack Team, 20 points for home-runs with a ball by Attack Team and 5 points every TAGS made by the Defence Team.

The experience is amazing, it brings me back to my childhood memories and learn to enjoy simple games that helps you interact again with people around you. Unlike these days, kids are so busy on their own space, physical and virtual.

By the way, the sports fest activities is facilitated by Magna Kultura and sponsored by Universal Rubina Corporation, Evebelena, Healthway, and more. Thanks to PMAP for the invites as well as to my friend Richard.

One of the largest chains of fitness clubs for women is celebrating their 25th year. It was out of the blue when I get invited to the event. I, together with the other blogger friend didn't even get to witness their flash mob dance of Curves Bonifacio Global City Team because we are all late.

However, we still get a chance to participate in their other activities. They have Zumba which I joined for 45 minutes, they have raffles, exciting games, product samples from sponsors and of course the best part of it is the learning where there's a short talk about breast cancer.

It just actually a preview to what will happen to their upcoming events which is the Breast Cancer Awareness this October.

I join their games and it was totally tough, 25 times fulling the thing with your feet is a no joke. We loss the game but it was fun. I also won something during the raffle and got a chance to take home some freebies from their sponsors.

It was a day to remember and to cherish. Kudos to all members and coaches of Curves Bonifacio Global City!

On April 23, 2017 marks another of raising the public’s consciousness about environmental issues and health and fitness for National Geographic, which celebrates its eighth straight year of holding Earth Day Run. Presented by the channel and its partners Cherifer Premium and World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF), Earth Day Run 2017 aims to continue the tradition of being one of the biggest running events in the country, expecting scores of running enthusiasts and Eco Warriors to register and run for the environment. The event will be held not only in Manila but simultaneously in the cities of Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore and Taichung, an initiative that was adopted last year and effectively spread the vision and advocacy of Earth Day Run across Asia.

At Earth Day Run 2017, National Geographic will be celebrating eight years of social awareness through fitness with special program features using the hashtag #8withEDR. With the hopes of mobilizing all the Eco Warriors of previous Earth Day Runs, this year’s event welcomes all previously registered participants with VIP treatment and special loyalty perks to be enjoyed on the day of the run. Participants from previous Earth Day Runs will be given priority placement in front of the starting line at the beginning of the race and can claim their loot bags and finisher shirt at a special express booth. They can also make use of a special warm-up and cool down tent before and after the race to condition themselves and recover in comfort.

This year’s new participants can also join in the celebrations for Earth Day Run’s eighth anniversary by visiting the 8 Years of EDR Gallery at the race village and learning about what the event has accomplished over the years, including the environmental and social initiatives it has benefited with the help of its registered runners. Visitors to the gallery will learn how their participation at Earth Day Run has made a significant impact on certain communities in the Philippines as well as how their actions as individuals can affect the environment.

Earth Day Run 2017 in Manila will be held at the SM Mall of Asia grounds, where participants can join 5K, 10K, 21K and 42K categories. The event encourages and welcomes all types of Eco Warriors to take part, from fun-runners of all ages to the serious marathon runners who regularly compete. This year, Earth Day Run will also be sporting new features for its runners. As a special treat, all race kits will come with LED shoelaces, serving as a badge of pride and as a safety precaution for Eco Warriors running at night or before sunrise. Prizes will also be given to costumed runners who showcase their creativity by coming in their best ensemble made from recycled materials. Finally, to make each Eco Warrior’s voice heard in this run for the Earth, advocacy banners will be hanging above the finish line so that each runner can grab them as they cross to make a shout-out for the environment, keep as a souvenir, and use for all their post-run selfies to amplify the message of acting now to save the environment.

Last year, Earth Day Run participants ran to benefit such causes as saving the Irawaddy dolphins at the Malampaya Sound Research and Conservation Project in Palawan; giving the Earth Hour or “Gift of Life” village in Monreal, Masbate sustainable solutions that reduce carbon footprint; conservation of the Marine Protected Area and coral reef in Apo Reef in Occidental Mindoro; and beefing up reforestation efforts in the Ipo Watershed in Bulacan, which supplies Metro Manila with fresh water. Registered runners at Earth Day Run 2017 will not only experience a fun day of outdoor fitness by joining this year’s event, but will also be doing their part in contributing to National Geographic’s environmental efforts.

“Earth Day Run 2017 will be the biggest version of the race yet, with more expected participants from Manila and four other cities across Asia. We’re also excited to look back on our eight years of environmental advocacy and share and celebrate with our runners the positive change that they helped make possible through the years by joining Earth Day Run. We hope that Earth Day Run 2017 not only brings communities of running enthusiasts together for the common cause of saving the environment but also that it amplifies the important message of doing your own part today to help stop climate change and commit to sustainable solutions to save our beloved planet Earth,” said Charo Espedido, Director and Head of Content and Marketing at FOX Networks Group Philippines.

Interested runners of all ages can join National Geographic’s Earth Day Run 2017 by registering at natgeoearthdayrun.com and from March 1 to April 16, 2017.
The world’s number one sports drink, in partnership with Runrio, will once again hit the road for the second year of the Gatorade Run.

It will be held on November 27, 2016 at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. The run will have two distances—11K and 22K.

More than 6,000 runners registered in last year’s run which featured hydration stations where participants got pre-race hydration drinks, a post-run hydration test area where runners instantly learned about their hydration status, and a warm-up area where free sessions were available for those who wanted a full-on warm up activity before and after the run. Gatorade ambassadors Jeron Teng, Jaja Santiago, Chris Banchero, Jett Manuel and Ara Galang were among those who were present to support the runners.

This year’s run promises to be more exciting, while still focusing on the importance of pre- and post-run hydration. Pepsico Marketing Manager for Hydration Tony Atayde said, “Gatorade is a global leader in sports performance and we’ll definitely bring that expertise to the run. Learning the benefits of proper hydration is crucial for runners and we look forward to reinforcing that message through the Gatorade Run.  We’re excited to show runners how, whether in sports hydration or a unique consumer experience, NOTHING BEATS GATORADE.”

Registration for the Gatorade Run 2016 will start on September 12. Log on to runrio.com for updates and to register.
The marathon is not my forte nor my interest. Although, I run,  sometimes  I am not really into it as a serious sport. Marathons take years of preparation. One needs to train hard, maintain a balance diet and build muscles.

I know the fact that not everybody can run a race to help promote an advocacy. And so the ANCOP WALK was born from the effort of ANCOP Canada. Organizing a walk event for twelve years now. Where people of all ages and from all walks of life can participate in raising funds for education and likewise create an awareness about ANCOP.  ANCOP is Couples for Christ's work with the poor initiative.

This year, the ANCOP Global Walk returns to the SM MOA, hoping to triple that initial number, targeting the 100,000 walkers who will send 2,000 scholars to school. Everyone is invited to join the ANCOP Global Walk. Even your family pets can be registered too!

The ANCOP Global Walk will be held in Metro Manila at 4:00 AM on August 14, 2016 at the SM Mall of Asia grounds, Pasay City. Registration is at Php 300. Simultaneous walks in major cities in the Philippines, the USA, Canada, and Australia, among others, will also happen on the same day.

So if you're looking for an event to join that isn't a marathon and help a cause at the same time, why not try the ANCOP Global Walk.

See you there!
Dietary supplement CardiMax is once again helping long distance runners harness their own energy in this year’s CardiMax-Clark Ultramarathon, a premier ultramarathon event happening on September 3 and 4 at the Clark Freeport Zone. Seasoned and aspiring ultramarathon runners who wish to join the event can participate in the 100 Kilometer Championship race or the 50 Kilometer Challenge.

Both categories include team relays where each member is required to cover approximately 25 kilometers to complete the race. Competitors are set to race around the areas surrounding the Clark Museum.

The course stretches from the tree-lined Airforce City installation and its WW2 fighters, all the way through areas of the SCTEX expressway, and back to the Sacobia Bridge, ending along Balagtas Avenue.

Athletes will be tracked online and in real time using automatic time checkpoint stations. Preparation for the event includes an 18-week training period spearheaded by running teams, veteran ultramarathon runners, and previous race winners. CardiMax will be made available for free at the training sessions and at designated aid stations throughout the course.

The first CardiMax-Clark Ultramarathon reintroduced the brand as an ideal supplement for athletes, according to Katheryn Feliciano, Integrated Pharmaceutical, Inc. VP for Operations. She recalled that those who tried CardiMax during last year’s training sessions personally felt its capacity to boost energy and specifically asked for the supplement at the aid stations.

“CardiMax used to be known only as a supplement for diabetics and patients with heart disease, but last year’s ultramarathon showed that it also benefited high-endurance athletes who needed help in maintaining their energy levels.” Feliciano said.

For CardiMax-Clark Ultramarathon organizer Christine Ferrera, last year’s partnership proved to be a synergy of purpose: “The tie-up with CardiMax was aligned with our goals of promoting health through sports. Last year was a good experience for the runners, and we will do our best to keep this year’s event just as festive as it is challenging,” Ferrera said.

Ideal for athletes

CardiMax is a supplement composed entirely of pure L-Carnitine, a nutrient that helps convert stored fat into energy. While the human body naturally produces L-Carnitine, it usually falls short of the requirements needed to synthesize the nutrient. One way to augment this is by consuming more red meat, which, in turn, can cause a number of health problems.

With CardiMax, the body receives sufficient amounts of L-Carnitine without having to increase red meat intake. This is helpful for athletes who need to watch their diet while simultaneously maintaining peak physical performance.

Registration for the event is until July 15, 2016. For more information about the CardiMax-Clark Ultramarathon, please log on to clarkultramarathon.com.
